
Pakistan Post to launch Track and Trace System
Pakistan Post is well set to launch its Track and Trace System from June 30 to ensure speedy and secure mail delivery. “The system will be centrally connected and anybody sitting in Islamabad will be able to know the status of mail delivery in major cities,” said Director General Pakistan Post, Agha Masood Hasan. Addressing a Press conference, the Director General dwelt upon variety of measures taken to revamp the post delivery system and introduction of state-of- the-art facilities at the Pakistan Post. Steering out of financial crunch after four years consistent efforts ,Pakistan Post has now been made a profit earning utility, Masood said. “For the first time in last 50 years, Pakistan Post earned Rs. 110 million profit in 2000 with the profit consistently increasing to Rs. 504 million in 2004,” he said.Since 1992, the government had to pay Rs. 760 million as subsidy to the Pakistan Post, but during last four years, no such money was asked from the government, he added. He said Pakistan Post is also prepared to launch e-money transfer system from July 31 this year. “This will be real time money transferring and delivery system,” the Director General said .He said e-letter facility is another achievement of the Pakistan Post. The Director General also referred to wrong steps of previous governments that worsened the condition of the utility.
