Update on USPS’ European Parcel Delivery Contract

Delivery of all European bound EMS and standard parcels from the US will revert to the individual Postal Administration in each country.

The above statement corrects the earlier announcement broadcast by FT.com explaining that the German Post Office, Deutsche Post, will take over the entire contract from GLS when it expires in December this year. Transport Intelligence has now confirmed that Deutsche Post will be responsible for the delivery of US consignments in its home market only.

Whilst Royal Mail will continue to handle this traffic in the UK the company’s management have indicated that GLS will now focus on its core market of European Business to Business deliveries.
