Italian Post Office counter may become self-service

The Italian Post Office has launched a Self Service project to reduce post office queuing time. Most bills are paid at the Post Office, with around EUR800m of transactions per year. They offer Post Office counters little added value, while queuing is often a waste of time for the user. Self-service bill payment would transform the cost into a profit for Post Offices, and reduce waiting time. It will be possible to pay bills by credit card using a special reader, and transactions can be completed in two minutes.
