More sign up for the pallet networks

Scottish haulier J&J Murdoch has joined the Pall-Ex network, serving the Dumfries & Galloway and Borders regions.
The company, which has 18 vehicles, has been delivering for Pall-Ex on a thirdparty contract basis for some time.

Murdoch’s business is in general haulage and the company has customers in the building industry, including brickmaker Redbank and Interfloor, a flooring manufacturer.

The Fortec pallet network has also added a new member. RGP International Freight, based in the Irlam area of Manchester, will cover the SK postcode.

The company employs 40 staff and operates 15 vehicles.

It operates daily services to and from Ireland – it has depots in Belfast and Dublin – and into mainland Europe in addition to its UK services.

Fortec said another of its members – Axtra, based in Portslade near Brighton – had moved into larger premises and invested in new vehicles to cope with the additional business since joining the network.

Axtra founder Mel Weller said: “We are now carrying about 95 pallets a night for the network, equating to around 40% of our business.”
