TNT Logistics extends contract with Anglian Water
Anglian Water Services has extended the scope of activities under TNT Logistics’ control for a further two years. The new role now incorporates inventory management on behalf of AWS. The two organisations have worked together since 2001.
TNT Logistics provides a dedicated fleet of vehicles to deliver engineering parts, pipes and meters throughout the Anglian Water region, which covers 27,500 sq km and serves 5.4 million people. The TNT Logistics team manages the Peterborough warehouse and will now also place orders with the manufacturers for delivery into the warehouse or direct to site.
The contract began with water fittings and pipes and had already expanded to include storage and delivery of bottled water and of spares for bio-solid treatment plants.
Neil Crossthwaite, Managing Director, TNT Logistics, says: “Since we started operating the contract, we have improved visibility throughout the supply chain, reduced wastage and significantly increased utilisation of the Peterborough logistics warehouse and yard. We are delighted that Anglian Water has awarded TNT Logistics the contract and look forward to working with them to make further improvements.”
The contract includes the use of specialist handling equipment such as vehicle mounted cranes and offers 24 hour, 365 day emergency cover.
Nirmal Kotecha, Head of Supply Chain, Anglian Water says: “Our relationship with TNT Logistics has helped us improve our service to our customers and we look forward to working together to continue to provide a cost effective, flexible supply chain.”
