Deutsche Post managers receive “German Image Award 2004”

This year, the Chairman of the Board of Management of Deutsche Post AG, Dr. Klaus Zumwinkel, and his head of communications, Prof. Manfred Harnischfeger, are to be awarded the “German Image Award 2004”. Presented by the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, the F.A.Z-Institut and PRIME research, the award is for an especially positive media image. It will be presented at a gala event on September 10, 2004, starting at 7:00 p.m., at Wiesbaden’s spa.
The jury’s justification for awarding the coveted glass trophy to Zumwinkel for his media portrayal lies in his qualities as a successful strategist, a capable change manager and a down-to-earth and likable executive. In their eyes, the credit for this felicitous positioning of Board and company goes above all to head of communications Manfred Harnischfeger who, with his team, has pursued a genuine, sustainable and credible communication strategy, consistently highlighting Klaus Zumwinkel’s management qualities.
The two award winners succeed BASF AG’s Prof. Jürgen Strube, Dr. Jürgen Hambrecht and Dr. Matthias Hensel, who accepted the award last year. In 2002 Porsche AG’s Dr. Wendelin Wiedeking and his head of communications Anton Hunger received the prize.
The prize winners are selected on the basis of more than 3,000 reports about over 120 top managers in opinion-leading German and international media. The jury members for the German Image Award are: Prof. Denis Hilton (University of Toulouse), Dr. Gero Kalt (F.A.Z.-Institut, Frankfurt), Dr. Rainer Mathes (PRIME research, Mainz), Prof. Dietrich Ratzke (Lomonosov Moscow State University), Prof. Stephan Ruß-Mohl (University of Lugano) and Holger Steltzner (publisher of the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung).
