China Post teams up with Western Union

Western Union, the world’s largest remittance company, has joined hands with Beijing Post Office, and set up its largest flagship company in Beijing recently.

According to Western Union, it will merely take 15 minutes to accomplish the international remittance in Beijing after the cooperation with China Post. But it needed one week before.

Lan Marsh, the senior vice president of Western Union Asia-Pacific Region, remarked that the two parties planned to establish 360 outlets in Beijing and more than 20,000 outlets across the country before the yearend of next year. Two outletswill be set up within this year.

For the moment, Western Union only deals with the US dollar remittance. The maximum amount for each deal should be no more than USD 2,000, but one customer can make several remittances each time.

Western Union entered China in 2002. China Post began to cooperate with it on international remittance services since this July. The cooperation first commenced in Jiangsu, Fujian, Zhejiang, and Shanghai.
