Yamato Transport and DHL Global Mail team up for cross-border mail delivery

Leading international mail services company, DHL Global Mail and Japan’s top door-to-door mail and parcel delivery company, Yamato Transport Co., Ltd. (Yamato) have joined forces to offer an international mail delivery service in Japan to customers world wide. DHL Global Mail, the international mail subsidiary of Deutsche Post World Net, formerly known as Deutsche Post Global Mail has relaunched under the DHL brand in October and runs the world´s largest mail network.
Yamato Transport launched its mail service, Kuroneko Mail, nationwide in March 1997. Since then, the service has enjoyed rapid growth servicing major publishers and catalogue companies. Yamato currently delivers 100 million Kuroneko Mail items per month in Japan, in addition to its domestic courier service.
The new collaboration will enable DHL Global Mail to offer mail and publication distribution in Japan to their customers worldwide. The world’s second largest economy continues to grow both as a destination and origin. Klaus Knappik, Chairman of DHL Global Mail: “The partnership will accelerate traffic growth both ways, drawing on the domestic strengths of Yamato Transport and the international presence and network of DHL Global Mail. At the same time we will continue to work closely with Japan Post.”
“Our Kuroneko Mail was created to satisfy our customers’ new demands. As deregulation progresses, increased competition and customer demand for high quality, reasonably priced services is a global reality. Against this back drop, the fact that DHLGlobal Mail has chosen Kuroneko Mail service will boost our reputation as a unique, high-quality service provider to customers all over the world,” says Yuji Uenuma, Managing Executive Officer of Yamato Transport.
