Secure parcel carrier wins a million pounds of national and regional government contracts

The increasing threat of worldwide terrorism has created new opportunities that have helped to generate a million pounds worth of account wins for local company Nightspeed Secure Worldwide Express because of its international reputation for secure delivery.

Nightspeed Secure Worldwide Express, based in Tipton, has launched GOVMAIL in partnership with the Government Car and Despatch Agency (GCDA) which provides secure inter departmental same day delivery and collection service for the Government and wider public sector. The independently owned company was awarded ‘UK Secure Parcel Carrier of the Year’ for three years running by its industry trade body, the Institute of Transport Management.

Nightspeed Secure Worldwide Express, originally part of Group 4 security, has signed a ten year public private partnership deal which will be dedicated to secure parcel transit for the Government. As part of the overall contract, new regional account wins include NHS logistics, The Office of Government Commerce (OGC) and the Home Office as well as Northamptonshire Police, the National Assembly for Wales,

Her Majesty’s Prison Wormwood Scrubs, the West Country Ambulance Service, English Heritage, and the DVLA.

The service is different because it will cater for these regular scheduled deliveries and collections outside of London. The network will cover England, Wales and Scotland, using the 25 Nightspeed Secure Worldwide Express depots throughout the UK and Nightspeed European, Eire and Worldwide Services for overseas deliveries.

Kelly Long, Partnership Manager at Nightspeed Secure Worldwide Express commented: “Our strength lies in our security and our reliability is reinforced by our rigorous procedures. The GOVMAIL partnership is a win-win situation for both parties. It gives a cost effective and totally secure distribution network, tailored to government needs. The existing GCDA service coupled with Nightspeed's comprehensive network of depots, will prove to be a winning combination and has enabled us to achieve our expansion plans much quicker than we’d originally hoped.”

“The nationwide scope of this new partnership is important. Government departments are increasingly locating to the regions and, with devolution, there is more demand for a service which reaches all parts of the UK. We are also keen for the wider public sector to make use of the new service.”

Nick Matheson CBE, Chief Executive of GCDA supports the new GOVMAIL service and partnership, adding: “GOVMAIL offers a top class range of services combining the specialist parcels knowledge and services of Nightspeed Secure Worldwide Express with the proven capabilities of GCDA to deliver a streamlined, efficient UK national and international tailored delivery network for Government.”
