DHL announces USD150mn in investments in Mexico
The express delivery and logistics company announced Wednesday that it will invest a total of US$150 million in Mexico to increase the size of its fleet, remodel its operating and express centers, improve communications schemes, customer relations and publicity.
The company is still the number one delivery firm in Mexico despite the fierce competition in the market. It has a quarter of the local market. Leticia Navarro, director general of DHL in Mexico, said that the firm has managed to expand its network to 228 countries, which means that it now serves 650,000 destinations and has 71,000 workers around the globe. In Mexico alone, DHL has 25,000 employees working in 140 express centers.
Navarro, formerly secretary of Tourism, said that the company had started to work on the development of integral logistics services and already had a sizeable portfolio of companies.
Luis Eraña, vice president of operations at the company, said that it had three ports of entry for basic imports and exports, the Mexico City and Guadalajara airports and the Plan de Guadalupe, close to Saltillo, Coahuila.

DHL that has completed 25 years of operations in Mexico, is preparing to invest US$150mil to increase its vehicles fleet, modernize packages handling, improve IT systems, and in other projects. The company leads the couriers market with a 25% share on it, manages 140 express centers, a fleet of 1,500 vehicles, 10 aircraft, and 1,200 messengers.
