Brazilian Correios launches Sedex Hoje and Sedex Mundi

The Brazilian postal service company Correios (Empresa Brasileira de Correios e Telegrafos) is launching two express delivery services in Rio de Janeiro, Sedex Hoje (local deliveries in the same day) and Sedex Mundi (deliveries to 215 countries), investing R$30mil resources in equipment. Those two new services are included in the Sedex line, with Sedex, e-Sedex and Sedex 10. In 2003, Correios registered 120mil deliveries, 113mil of them were Sedex Comum services. The company intends to increase income with this family by around R$50mil and R$80mil, accounting for 10% of total income (R$500mil in 2003). Sedex Hoje may move 350,000 packages in 2005. With Sedex Mundi, the group is focusing on companies in the external commerce area.
