KarstadtQuelle in exclusive talks with Deutsche Post on logistics ops

KarstadtQuelle AG is now in exclusive talks with Deutsche Post World Net AG to sell its logistics operations, Die Welt newspaper reported, citing no sources.

The parts Deutsche Post hopes to acquire are the troubled German retailer’s two package delivery centres, in Frankfurt and Leipzig, its warehousing operations and the business of supplying its department stores.

Meanwhile, KarstadtQuelle is in exclusive talks with privately-owned transportation company Fiege to deliver large goods such as refrigerators or furniture to customers.

Fiege, which has annual sales of around 1.4 bln eur, already counts the retailing giant among its clients.

The newspaper said according to industry estimates, KarstadtQuelle is asking for 1 bln eur for its entire logistics operations.
