US PostNet signs agreement with DHL

PostNet World Headquarters announced today that all PostNet locations will become authorized shipping centers for DHL, a worldwide leader in express shipping. This makes PostNet the only major player in the postal, business and communications services industry offering customers the choice of four major express shipping and mailing services.

In addition to DHL, PostNet is an authorized shipping center for FedEx, UPS and the U.S. Postal Service. PostNet has more than 500 locations throughout the United States, and more than 935 worldwide.

“American consumers are making it increasingly clear they want more choices in the marketplace,” said Brian E. Spindel, PostNet’s co-founder and chief operating officer. “Nothing makes a customer more irritated than driving to, parking and entering a shipping center only to find out that their UPS account is no good there because the center only offers FedEx! We’re going in the direction of giving our customers more choices, whereas the rest of the industry has really gone in the direction of offering customers less.”

While customers at other major postal outlets are limited to only one express shipping choice, Spindel said the addition of DHL to PostNet’s lineup was a direct result of consumer demand. DHL Worldwide Express merged with Airborne in August 2003 and with an aggressive growth strategy has increased the competition in the express shipping industry.

PostNet customers now have the ability to compare prices, delivery times and areas of service of the four major services all at one location, a claim that its competitors can’t match.
