Spanish Correos handles 6.4 mln deliveries in 2004

Spanish state-owned postal operator Correos made 6.4 million deliveries in 2004, a 3.1 pct year-on-year increase, the company said on February 11, 2005.

Of these, 5.03 million were postcards and letters, 1.189 million were parcels and 27 million were express deliveries.

The largest growth in the deliveries was reported for Andalusia, Murcia, Cantabria, Extremadura, Castille-La Manche, Valencia, La Rioja and Basque regions and the Balearic Islands, off the east coast of Spain.

Apart from these deliveries, Correos handled 314.4 million deliveries with election documentation after the general elections on March 14, 2004, the election of regional government in the Andalucia region on March 14, 2004 and the elections for the European Parliament on June 13, 2004.
