Spanish Courier Industry Forecasts 4.465 Bln Euro Turnover for 2003
Spanish courier industry forecasts a 4.465 bln euro ($5.048 bln) turnover for 2003, up 8.8 pct year-on-year, Spanish consultancy DBK said.
The forecast year-on-year increase in turnover for 2004 stands at 10 pct. Delivery of business parcels will register a 9.5 pct year-on-year rise in turnover in 2003. The turnover from delivery of business parcels is expected to rise by 10.7 pct year-on-year to 2.96 bln euro ($3.346 bln) in 2004. Delivery of industrial parcels will register a 7.7 pct increase in turnover in 2003 and 8.9 pct in 2004.
Spanish courier industry posted a 4.104 bln euro ($4.64 bln) turnover for 2002, up 7.5 pct year-on-year. The year-on-year rise in turnover posted by the Spanish couriers in 2001 stood at 10.9 pct.
Spanish courier industry comprised 4,000 companies with a staff of 65,400 in 2002. Express courier groups Seur and MRW are the major operators in Spain in delivery of business parcels, and sector companies Guipuzcoana Euro Express and Azkar are the main operators in delivery of industrial parcels. The five biggest operators in delivery of business parcels in Spain generated 52 pct of the turnover in the sector in 2002. The five biggest operators in delivery of industrial parcels in the country accounted for 54 pct of the total turnover in the sector in 2002.
