DHL Iberia To Invest 10 Mln Euro in Logistics Centre in Zaragoza
DHL Iberia, Spanish subsidiary of German express mail delivery group DHL, invested 10 mln euro ($11.9 mln) to build a logistics centre in Zaragoza, northeastern Spain, DHL Iberia CEO Felipe Corcuera said on April 20, 2004.
The centre has an area of 22,000 sq m. Some 6,000 sq m of the area is designed for transport and distribution premises. Premises have a capacity for 32 transport trucks and 53 delivery trucks. The centre also incorporates a logistics store of 2,200 sq m and offices with a total area of 1,800 sq m.
The Zaragoza based centre, which employs 140, has a capacity to sort 4,500 packages per hour, which might increase to 7,500 packages per hour.
The Zaragoza centre is the first on the Iberian Peninsula to offer the full number of services DHL offers worldwide.
DHL Iberia operated in Zaragoza through its 1,800 sq m centre, based in the Pilar business park. The centre registered an average 4,600 shippings a day, including 10,000 pieces of luggage of total 205 tonnes.
DHL operates in 220 countries worldwide and has a staff of 380,000. The company posted a combined revenue of 40.02 bln euro ($47.9 bln) in 2003.
