Triangle’s latest research delves into the shape of the UK parcel delivery sector

Triangle’s UK Domestic Express Parcel Carriers Digest 2020, published today, delves into the UK parcel carrier market and finds out more about the main national carriers that shape the industry.

The Digest looks at the estimated 2.6 billion items that were handled in 2019, the approximate £10 billion in revenues generated and how much of a stake each carrier took.

Triangle’s new research analyses how much of those 2.6 billion items are sent using a deferred day delivery (24%) and what percentage of all deliveries are sent by the UK’s most widely used delivery service, next day.

And, in a year like no other, shaped by a global pandemic and ongoing regional lockdowns, the research explores into how COVID-19 has affected postal operators and how it has affected consumer purchasing behaviour and confidence. It also highlights carrier strategies and investment levels and how domestic volumes have thrived (in part thanks to the growth of e-commerce), whilst international traffic has suffered amidst closed borders and other factors.

The digest also covers the latest trends and developments, be it on alternative delivery solutions, green initiatives or investment in IT and technology.

But most of all, the Digest is designed to be a handy compendium of the UK express industry, examining the 15 key UK express carriers that offer a national parcel delivery services throughout the UK.
