Plan for TNT parcel depots change
Parcel delivery company TNT has announced plans to restructure its depots at East Midlands Airport and move some staff further afield.
TNT is consulting with workers to move its international logistics section at EMA and give the space in the building to its air-hub operation.
International logistics provides a delivery and collection service to customers while the air-hub manages the process of moving packages between the depot and planes.
But the company has no plans to lose any of the 50 staff based at EMA. A spokeswoman said it was hoped they would all be given jobs either at Leicester or Nottingham depots, both of which currently offer only domestic services.
The changes are intended to make the Express parcels service more accessible to customers by combining national and international services. At the moment, customers with domestic and overseas delivery needs have to deal with two different sections. TNT hopes to provide the same service through a one-stop-shop approach and from depots closer to customer locations.
