Hermes to cease operations of Liefery for ‘strategic reasons’

The Hermes subsidiary Liefery, which specialises in same-day deliveries, will cease operations on February 28, 2021.

Hermes has stated on its website: “For strategic reasons, the management of Hermes Germany decided not to continue the activities of the subsidiary Liefery, which initially focused on same-day delivery. This means that future B2C market growth in the next-day business will be shaped exclusively from Hermes Germany. The Berlin company Liefery will exit the market on February 28, 2021. This will not have any impact on the recently started Christmas business.

Liefery was founded in 2014. Hermes acquired shares in the company in 2015 and finally the majority in 2017.
