Oce Business wins BP deal extension
Oce Business Services has clinched a renewal and extension to its contract with BP worth pounds 6.5m.
The outsourcing division will offer its document services for the corporate giant’s print and mail rooms in the UK. The deal will run for five years and the mail room contract is a new win. Oce takes over from previous incumbent Williams Lea.
‘What helped us win the contract was our environmental credentials,’ said Oce Business Services programme manager Jeff King. ‘We ensure that we have a strong environmental focus when sourcing paper from sustainable sources and in production of material.’
Oce was handed the contract by Johnson Controls, which manages BP’s ‘Total Facilities Management solution’. The deal covers BP’s headquarters in St James’s Square, London and its offices in Moorgate, Sunbury, Swindon and Milton Keynes.
King added that BP was also attracted to Oce’s ability to ensure that external and internal corporate literature was consistent. At BP’s headquarters documents are produced on Oce’s CPS700 colour machines and two 3165 black and white printers. Oce’s graphic design software enables an exact colour match with the BP logo and other corporate colours.
Literature that Oce will be overseeing includes internal reports and external colour marketing material. According to King, digital production has resulted in less waste than producing material using offset.
BP is also implementing Oce’s e-Desk product, which includes online delivery and the ability to search for past documents and images.
Oce Business Services’ other big name clients include Rolls-Royce, Philips and Boeing.
The BP deal comes hot on the heels of the announcement that Oce Business Services had extended its contract with Trowbridge-based local government printer The Consortium (PrintWeek, 28 February).
