Palletline enters alliance with Hazchem Network

Palletline, the pioneering originator of pallet systems and after 12 years still equally committed to industry leadership, has entered into a strategic alliance with the Hazchem Network. This will enable its members to remain at the forefront of the industry by joining the first system dedicated exclusively to the distribution of palletised ADR.

After a detailed review, Palletline, which has successfully handled UN classes 3, 4, 8 and 9 for many years, concluded that recent and forthcoming further changes to the regulatory regime made it essential that ADR be handled through a separate, specialist network. In December 2004, it agreed the terms of an alliance with the Hazchem Network, which has seen almost 20 Palletline members joining the new system in January alone.

Managing Director, Glyn Jones, commented, “Our first priority is to operate safely. The safe transportation of hazardous chemicals increasingly requires specialist skills, knowledge and facilities. This alliance with the Hazchem Network gives our members full and immediate access to hub facilities which set new standards in this sector of the market. It also provides them with skills and knowledge of hazardous chemical distribution which are market-leading as well as essential to safe operations. This level of specialisation and professionalism will, I believe, come to be regarded by operators and customers alike as the only acceptable way forward in the very near future.”

Palletline, which is about to begin the redevelopment of its main Birmingham hub to enable further growth from its network of almost 60 members, will accept ADR until February 18th. After that date, only Limited Quantities will be moved through the Palletline system. All other ADR will be consigned through the Hazchem Network, effectively creating a practical separation of ADR and non-ADR traffic. Jones said, “We strongly believe that far more product will be brought into the scope of ADR over the next 12 months and that the scale of the challenge that growth offers to hauliers is substantial. This alliance, between Palletline, the company that changed an industry and the Hazchem Network, the first ever specialist ADR pallet system demonstrates our determination to stay at the forefront of industry developments. It is a robust, professional solution to a rapidly growing challenge and, as such, represents an important and positive move for the road haulage industry.”
