Palletways’ new Naples hub breaks company records
Palletways has unveiled a new hub in Naples to enhance its express palletised freight distribution service in Southern Italy. The hub has broken the record for the most successful first night of a Palletways operation throughout mainland Europe and the UK.
Launched in 2002, Palletways’ Italian network currently comprises fifty-plus independent transport companies (members) who use each other’s resources to deliver goods via a central hub in Bologna.
Having collected earlier in the day from their local customer base, all Palletways Italia members trunk their goods into the central hub facility for processing and sorting into designated delivery areas.
Members’ vehicles then return to their local depot with the goods they have been assigned to deliver on behalf of the network, and from here they are despatched to their final delivery points. Bar-code technology and a consignment track and trace facility monitor the goods throughout the whole process.
Adam Shuter, European development director, said: “Our operation in Italy continues to go from strength to strength, and the hub at Naples will enable us to offer businesses in the South a dedicated regional operation, thereby enhancing our customer service further in the area.”
Palletways Italia offers a range of express distribution services for small consignments of palletised freight across the country, including next day, timed delivery options, and Economy two to three days.
Founded in the UK in 1994, Palletways now has operations in Belgium, England, France, Germany, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Republic of Ireland, Scotland and Wales.
