TNT Romania sees 40percent rise in 2005 turnover
Express delivery services company TNT Romania, a subsidiary of the Dutch TNT Express, said on Friday it expects a 40percent rise in turnover this year, to 23 million euro (USD27.9 million), due to higher number of clients and bigger transported volume.
The company gave no profit or loss projections for the current year.
“The results we registered in the first six months confirmed the forecast of a 40% rise we made as early as the beginning of this year,” a TNT Romania marketing expert, Monica Anita, said in a statement.
The company’s turnover rose 33percent last year.
TNT Romania claims a 49percent share of Romania’s market of business-to-business deliveries and targets a 60percent share in the next two years. The company’s investment programme for 2005 amounts to 1.7 million euro.
TNT fully acquired the Bucharest-based courier company Romcargo in February 1999 and renamed it to TNT Romania.
TNT Romania has 340 employees based in 20 offices countrywide. Its main competitors in the southeast European country of 21.7 million people are the local subsidiaries of German DHL and U.S. United Parcel Service (UPS).
TNT Express, established in 1946, is a subsidiary of the Dutch postal, express and logistics company TPG. TNT Express employs 40,000 and delivers 3.6 million shipments weekly to 200 countries worldwide.
