TNT Portugal sees 2005 turnover up 12 Pct Y/Y

TNT Portugal, the local unit of Dutch express service provider TNT Post Group, projects to generate a turnover of 39 mln euro ($47.5 mln) for full 2005, up 12 pct year-on-year, it was reported on October 3, 2005.

In comparison, the company’s turnover totalled 34.5 mln euro ($42 mln) in 2004.

TNT Portugal projects also to process some 60,000 tonnes of parcels in 2005. Letters processed by the company are estimated to round 2.6 million at the end of 2005, compared to 2.3 million in 2004.

The number of the company’s clients is expected to increase by some 15 pct compared to 2004, when they totalled 11,042.

The number of TNT Portugal’s employees is seen at 253 at the end of 2005, against 241 in the previous year.

Currently, the company operates six depots in Portugal and plans to open further one in the country’s central Coimbra city in March 2006.
