Posta Romana new Director General

Romania’s state-controlled postal services operator Posta Romana said on Friday it has appointed Valentin Stefan as the  new Director General.

Stefan is replacing Horia Grigorescu, who is leaving the company in order to pursue other professional opportunities, Posta Romana said in a press release.

Valentin Stefan previously served as deputy general manager at Posta Romana.

Posta Romana has the largest distribution network in Romania, employing 24,000 people at 5,500 units. Over 19 million people benefit from its services and more than 7.5 million addresses are covered by the company’s own postal network.

The Romanian state owns 93.52% of Posta Romana, with the remainder held by local property restitution fund Fondul Proprietatea.

In October 2020, Posta Romana signed a 200 million lei ($49 million/ 40 million euro) loan agreement with state-owned Eximbank in order to finance a large-scale investment programme.
