Romania's Cargus raises its 2006 turnover growth rate target to 80%

Romanian courier services provider Cargus raised on Friday its projection for rise in 2006 turnover to 80%, the same growth rate as last year, when the company’s turnover reached 15 million euro ($18.3 million).

“Initially, we projected a 30% rise [in 2006 turnover] but since the market is growing, we now expect an 80% rise,” Cargus sales manager Ioana Manta said in a statement.

The projected rise in turnover will be supported by a 2.5 million euro investment programme.

Cargus has 600 cars and plans to raise their number by 40% this year.

The company’s profit rate was three to four percent last year. International shipments accounted for nine percent of last year’s turnover.

Cargus, (www.cargus.ro) set up in 1991, offers same day delivery, next day delivery, cash on delivery and declared value services.

Cargus set up a 49/51 joint venture with French-Turkish courier GeoPost-Yurtici Kargo in 2004. The Romanian-based joint venture, called GeoPost Cargus, offers international air express, air-road and road-based services on the domestic market.
