DHL Lithuania lifts FY revenue to Eur 13.7 mln

Lithuanian express delivery and logistics company DHL Lietuva posted revenue of 47.4 million litas (EUR 13.7 mln) for 2005, a rise of 47.7 percent from 32.1 million litas in 2004.

The company said in a statement that it handled over 220,000 shipments in 2005.

“We managed to capitalize on Lithuania’s growing economy and offered perhaps the widest range of logistics services to the market. Last year growth was particularly strong in cargo transportation by land and sea,” said DHL Lietuva CEO Mindaugas Utkevicius.

He said the acquisition by Deutsche Post World Net of the UK logistics company Exel at the end of last year should give a further boost to the Lithuanian company’s operations.

The transaction has made Deutsche Post World Net, of which DHL is a part, the biggest logistics company in the world.

“Exel’s long-time experience and logistics know-how will help DHL Lietuva to strengthen its positions in the logistics services segment in third countries,” Utkevicius said.

DHL Lietuva employs over 120 people.
