TNT raises 2005 Czech sales by third to EUR25m
The Czech unit of express delivery services provider TNT Express raised sales by 34 percent to EUR25m, or some Kc720m last year, CEO Petr Chvatal told a press conference today. The plan for this year hovers around Kc900m. The company wants to exceed the Kc1bn level in the near future, he added. At the beginning of this year, the company bought ISH Nocni Expres, focused on express night deliveries in the Czech Republic and the neighbouring Slovakia. TNT launched a new daily air connection from Brno to the central transshipment depot in Belgiums Liege in early March. The move should accelerate considerably transport of consignments from Moravia, which had to be transported to Prague by road until now. TNT, which delivered the first consignment in the Czech Republic 14 years ago, employs 300 people and operates 150 cars at present. Its main competitors on the Czech market are multinational companies DHL, UPS, Fedex and DPD, for instance.
