DHL enhances domestic next day air product portfolio

DHL, the world's leading express and logistics company, today announced significant enhancements to its suite of domestic Next Day Air products though a major expansion of its service coverage across the U.S. DHL is also enhancing its money back guarantee for DHL Next Day 10:30 AM and DHL Saturday Delivery services.

DHL's portfolio of Next Day Air products includes DHL Next Day 10:30 AM, DHL Next Day 12:00 PM, and DHL Next Day 3:00 PM — complemented by DHL Same Day service for the most time-critical shipments. DHL is the only U.S. express delivery provider with the flexibility to offer both 10:30 AM and 12:00 PM delivery service options.

Effective today, DHL has enhanced its service coverage for its next day products, upgrading nearly 300 ZIP Codes to its 10:30 AM product, 179 ZIP Codes to its Next Day 12:00 PM product, and 231 ZIP Codes to its Saturday Delivery service. When added to DHL's existing coverage, this represents a service upgrade to an additional 8 million ZIP Code combinations. DHL will continually review its delivery capabilities to enhance its service coverage for customers nationwide.

In addition, the DHL Next Day 10:30 AM and DHL Saturday Delivery services are now backed by an enhanced money-back guarantee which includes both the transportation charges and the associated service fees. Customers may now claim a full refund of transportation charges and the 10:30 AM upgrade or Saturday delivery fee in the event of a shipment delay.* Furthermore, DHL recently upgraded its Next Day 3:00 PM service, adding new competitive rates and extending its service guarantee to shipments up to 150 lbs.

"With service levels at the highest in our history, DHL is standing behind its promise to bring customer service back to shipping," said Charles Brewer, executive vice president of U.S. air products and services for DHL. "These service enhancements and the upgraded money back guarantee reflect our confidence in our employees, our transportation network, and our ability to provide industry leading service to our customers across the United States."

A new, nationwide marketing campaign also begins today, featuring new print, online, and direct mail advertising, that centers on increasing customer awareness of DHL's Next Day Air product offerings and commitment to customer service. The campaign also emphasizes that customers can rely on DHL's ability to handle heavier-weight shipments as well. DHL's new advertising and marketing message will be seen in major national business and vertical industry publications, and will demonstrate that American industries can rely on the speed and reliability of DHL Next Day Air Services.

The enhancements to DHL's suite of Next Day Air products are a direct result of several initiatives over the past two years DHL has undertaken to bring "customer service back in shipping," and build out its U.S. network. In addition to new facilities announced over the past several months, DHL Express has been executing its $1.2 billion network investment program in the U.S. market which has resulted in a newly expanded primary air and ground hub in Wilmington, Ohio, seven new Regional Sort Centers, and a recently completed West Coast distribution facility. Today's announcement also follows the launch of a new route optimization initiative which will help DHL facilities map out optimum delivery routes, streamline sorting processes, and balance daily loads more efficiently. The route optimization initiative will decrease drive time, route length and fuel consumption, enable more rapid processing of shipments and increase efficiency at each facility, which in turn will benefit DHL's customers across the U.S.
