FedEx sets up subsidiary in Nanjing

Federal Express (FedEx), the global leading provider of logistics ad delivery services, announces the opening of Nanjing subsidiary on April 26, 2006, aimed to further strengthen the presence in Eastern China.

The new company, located in Jiangning Development Zone in Nanjing City, covers a plot of land as large as 2,340 square meters. Its operating station is composed of professional import & export sorting and picking system, storage area, and operation sector and it is able to handle nearly 1,000 parcels every hour at the fastest speed.

FedEx China’s vice president for international express business reveals that the demand for international express services in Nanjing comes from almost all export-oriented industries in the city, including textile, garment, light industry, and high-tech electronics and the export destinations cover the US, Europe, and Southeast Asia. Impressively, the demand for the cross-border express services for the high-tech and high value-added products grows very sharply, which that is just what FedEx wants to do in China.
