TNT sets up Malaysian security control centre

TNT Express (M) Sdn Bhd, has invested up RM1 million to set up Asia Security Control and Command Centre (ASCCC) in Petaling Jaya for its Asia Road Network. “The amount is part of the RM15 million investment for this year, including the upgrade and and expansion of our facilities in Johor Baru, Penang and Kuala Lumpur International Airport, which are scheduled for completion by year-end,” its managing director, Gerry Power, said at a media preview of ASCCC today. Power said the network would be extended to link over 120 cities spanning 4,000km once Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam are added later this year and China in 2007. “The ASCCC is a comprehensive security centre and a watchdog service for a road transportation network. “It plays a critical role in monitoring the Asian Road Network for the entire region, maintaining constant contact with drivers and monitoring the trucks on the road,” he said. Power said the ASCCC was conceptualised and developed by the team in TNT Malaysia, working alongside partners to develop the sophisticated solution. He added that TNT Asia Road Network service is targeted at domestic and international customers from various industries that include high-technology, electronics and motor vehicle sectors. The ASCCC is located at TNT’s National Operations Centre, which was up at a cost of RM2.5 million in Petaling Jaya.
