UK Pallets: no sackings just gardening leave

UK Pallets sent 4 of its directors, including recently promoted MD Mark Hazelgrove, home on gardening leave last week. The move is part of plans to restructure the business, Managing Director Terry Richards told Motor Transport this week. ‘There have been no sackings as rumour suggests – we are just restructuring. We are certainly not moving our of pallets‘ he says. ‘We are integrating our sales and marketing fuction into Business Post‘s to take advantage of group resources.‘

He says UK Pallet‘s 3 dedicated salesmen will keep their jots, but their reporting line has changed to Business Post. Other restructuring takes place in the network‘s operations department.
UK Pallet‘s competitors have told MT that some of the directors in question have already approached them for jobs.
The decision to restructure comes following the completion of Richards‘ 3 month tour around all of UK Pallets ‘partner‘ firms. ‘It ws a case of putting names to faces, seeing the scope of their businesses and the importance of the direction of the network‘ he says.
