MAT/TPN deal started with MT
The Pallet Network has linked with MAT Group to provide an international palletised distribution service. MAT’s Grays, Essex depot is also on board as a UK member of the network. The deal is the direct result of a report in Motor Transport in August 2004 of Brian Rosier’s purchase of MAT. “It’s taken a year to make it happen,” TPN chairman Richard Eldred says. Meanwhile, 15 members have bought shares in TPN from existing shareholders, typically in tranches of (pounds sterling)5,000 to (pounds sterling)10,000, Eldred says.

A WARWICKSHIRE-BASED firm has been lifted into cyberspace with the launch of a website.
The Pallet Network, which has a national hub in Castle Mound Way, Central Park, Rugby, enlisted the help of Business Link Coventry and Warwickshire to join the world wide web.
The national distribution hub is one of just nine such operations in the UK which organises freight distribution by pallet.
Chairman Richard Eldred said the website would prove to be a vital tool for the firm and its 80 member companies.
The Pallet Network was founded in an old aircraft hangar in Doncaster, south Yorkshire. In January last year the firm moved into 224,000 sq ft premises next to the M6 motorway.
It employs 50 staff who co-ordinate the inputting and delivery of 20,000 pallets a week.
