Licensing of postal service to cause economic, legal services
The licensing of postal service in Armenia will cause economic and legal problems, Chairman of the Yerevan Press Club Boris Navasardyan told reporters.
According to him, AMD 5mln required for licensing is too large a sum for small and medium enterprises working on this market. Navasardyan also pointed out that this requirement limits of freedom of speech in Armenia and runs counter to the RA Constitution and the RA Law “On mass information”.
In his turn, Director of the “Blitz Media” company Armen Davtyan reported that licensing will have negative effects, particularly raise corruption risks and form monopoly on this market.
“Monopoly will allow the national operator of Armenia, Armpost CJSC, to establish complete control over the sector,” he said. According to Davtyan, the sum required for licensing is actually “laid on consumers’ shoulders”.
As a result, some 45% rise in the price for newspapers will take place, which, in turn, will worsen the quality of services and reduce the number of subscribers, he said.
