Statement from TNT on relationship with Japan Post

In reaction to articles in the Japanese Press, TNT makes the following statement:

On October 31, 2005 TNT and Japan Post announced an intention to establish a joint venture in International Express. For TNT this joint venture would be an addition to its recent acquisition in China and start of a road based network in South East Asia and would form part of its overall strategy to build a leading position in the Asian Express market.

At this stage, parties have not been able to reach agreement on the joint venture; however, TNT continues to explore opportunities for cooperation with Japan Post, including alternative JV structures.

TNT remains committed to the discussions with JP but will – as always – also be looking at alternative options in Japan to continue to build on the momentum we have managed to create in all other parts of Asia.
