Dutch TNT Opens Distribution Centre in USA

Dutch mail and express deliveries group TNT NV’s North American division has opened a regional distribution centre in Orlando, in the U.S. state of Florida, for U.S. United Technologies Corp.’s handling equipment unit Otis Elevator Company, TNT said on June 29, 2006.

The regional distribution centre will serve Otis’ customers in Florida and in the surrounding U.S. states.

TNT Logistics already provides various distribution-related services to Otis, the Dutch company said.

Otis Elevator Company, which is based in Farmington, Connecticut, is the world’s biggest maker of elevators, escalators and moving walkways. The company has a 60,000-strong workforce and operates in more than 200 countries.

United Technologies Corp., which is headquartered in Hartford, Connecticut, is a diversified company which provides various aerospace services, products and parts.

TNT Logistics (www.tntlogistics.com) posted sales of $4.22 bln (3.362 bln euro) for 2005 with a 36,000-strong workforce operating in 28 countries.
