Swiss Post Takes Over Printing, Packaging Centre of Swisscom

DocumentServices AG, a subsidiary of Swiss Post, took over the printing and packaging centre of Swisscom IT Services, the IT services arm of leading phone carrier Swisscom, with immediate effect from July 4, 2006.

No details of the purchase price were revealed.

Swiss Post will take in the 58 employees of the centre with a three-year employment guarantee as well as the existing customer contracts.

After the deal, the company will be printing and packing about 100 million customer letters of Swisscom a year.

DocumentServices, specialised in pre-printing, printing and data management, expects the acquisition to help it reinforce its leading market position and expand its electronic document preparation operations.

DocumentServices is a fully owned subsidiary of Swiss Post since December 2004. It posted sales of 29 mln Swiss francs ($23.7 mln/18.5 mln euro) for 2005, with a workforce of 100.
