UPS inaugurates expansion of its vital Paris hub
UPS announces a €46 million investment in its Paris-Évry site, which houses UPS’s biggest hub in France, increasing sorting capacity from 20,000 packages per hour to a total of 44,000 to meet growing customer demand.
The building expansion adds 25 additional loading doors and 11 unloading doors to increase parcel sorting capacity for most packages by more than 11,000 units per hour. For very small packages, a separate line will be added to increase sorting capacity by 9,000 per hour. When completed, the expansion will represent about 70 jobs on site as well.
Since the Paris-Évry hub opened in 2018, its importance to the UPS network in Europe has grown – with steadily increasing volume that takes advantage of its state-of-the-art automated technology to provide accurate and efficient sortation – particularly for SMB customers.
A further 9,000 m2 will be added to the hub’s parking area to create more space for trucks and semi-trailers.
“I am very proud of this investment, which will allow us to serve our customers’ needs even better in France and beyond,” says Burak Kiliç, Country Manager of UPS France. “The Paris-Évry hub is not only at the heart of our French network but also serves as a key axis for France’s neighbouring countries including the UK, Germany, Italy, Spain, Poland, the Nordics and the Benelux countries.”
