DoorDash launches Apple CarPlay integration for Dasher app

US-based food delivery firm DoorDash has announced that its ‘Dashers’ (or delivery drivers) can now use Apple CarPlay to sync their iPhones’ interface with their cars’ built-in information, navigation and entertainment systems.

Most importantly, this will mean that the Dashers will be able to seamlessly show the DoorDash app’s navigation interface on their cars’ built-in screens, so they spend less time focused on their phones and more time focused on the road.

To use this new integration, Dashers will need the Dasher app for iOS and a vehicle that supports CarPlay. Once they connect their phones to their cars via Bluetooth or USB (depending on what their car supports), directions displayed in the Dasher app will automatically be shown on their vehicles’ screens.

In a notice posted on its official blog yesterday (26 July), DoorDash said that the CarPlay integration will be piloted in select markets next week and the company expects it will scale to all Dashers in the coming months.
