DHL Express is “taking another important step towards making international express shipping more sustainable”

DHL Express, has signed an agreement with Medion, a German consumer electronics company and subsidiary of multinational technology company Lenovo, for its new GoGreen Plus service. This makes it possible to reduce CO_2eemissions by using sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) instead of conventional aviation fuel.

With our GoGreen Plus service, we are taking another important step towards making international express shipping more sustainable. I am pleased that together we are supporting the transition to low-emission transport services via sustainable aviation fuel.”

Christian Eigen, CFO and Deputy CEO of Medion AG, added: “The GoGreen Plus agreement with DHL is a decisive contribution to our own sustainability strategy, which has been geared towards a significant reduction in controllable CO₂ emissions for years.”

Launched last year by DHL Express, GoGreen Plus uses CO₂ insetting and SAF to enable customers to reduce CO_2eemissions associated with their freight volumes. GoGreen Plus is made possible by three of the largest SAF contracts with bp, Neste and World Energy, among others. SAF is produced from alternative feedstocks with a sustainable energy profile, including used cooking oil, waste and hydrogen. Conventional carbon-intensive aviation fuels, or kerosene, are derived from crude oil.

GoGreen Plus is part of DHL Group’s goal to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050. With around 90% of the company’s CO₂ footprint attributable to its flight network, sustainable air transport solutions are important for creating greener logistics operations.
