Posten Bring meets “the high demand for more parcel lockers from both online stores and customers”

Posten Bring has rapidly rolled out Europe’s longest network of parcel lockers, with 6,000 self-service parcel lockers at 2,000 locations across Norway.

“Since the first parcel locker was installed in early 2020, both the popularity and usage have exceeded all of our expectations. With self-service lockers in the local area that can be accessed around the clock, we’ve made life easier for our customers,” says Thomas Støkken, Executive Vice President for e-commerce and logistics at Posten Bring.

Kiwi Hjemseng in Tønsberg municipality had the honour of reaching the milestone with Parcel Locker number 2,000, which has been named Mimmi, Nero, and Song. Today, you’ll find parcel lockers from Lindesnes in the south to Longyearbyen in the north — making Posten Bring’s parcel locker network the longest in Europe, measured by geographical distance (2,300 kilometers).

“We’ve maintained a high pace in this work to meet the high demand for more parcel lockers from both online stores and customers. Now, customers can send and collect parcels from over 85,000 compartments spread across 6,000 different parcel lockers, at 2,000 different locations in Norway,” Støkken continues.

In Oslo, 59 percent of the population is within 500 meters of their nearest parcel locker, but it’s actually in Grane municipality in Helgeland where usage is highest. So far this year, just under one package per resident has been delivered from a parcel locker in the municipality.

High Growth and Records

In 2023, Posten Bring experienced a 67 percent growth in packages collected from parcel lockers. 40 percent of those given the option to collect from the lockers in Oslo choose to do so.

Through the Posten app, the parcel lockers are easy and user-friendly, and customers’ feedback so far this year rates at 4.8 out of 5 possible stars.

The supplier of the actual lockers used in the Parcel Locker network, Swipbox, states that Posten Bring has set several records since its inception in 2020:

  • The world’s northernmost Parcel Locker, located in Longyearbyen.
  • The network with the largest geographical distance in Europe (2,300 kilometers from Lindesnes to Longyearbyen).
  • The fastest rollout of a national Parcel Locker network.

Doubled network of pickup locations

At the beginning of 2020, Posten Bring had 1,565 pickup locations in Norway, but since then, the number has more than doubled. Today, there are 3,700 staffed and self-service pickup locations, representing an increase of 136 percent in just over four years.
