Deutsche Post World Net subsidiary Williams Lea opens state-of-the-art mail and document solutions facility in the UK

Hans-Dieter Petram, Deutsche Post World Net’s Board Member for Mail, is driving ahead the Group’s expansion in international mail. In Norwich, UK, he officially opened a state-of-the-art mail and document solutions facility for Deutsche Post World Net’s UK subsidiary Williams Lea. Equipped with the latest in technology, the approx. 6,500 sqm mail center is the base for around 400 employees working to provide internal and external communication services for companies such as electronic printing, document and correspondence management for corporate clients. Williams Lea hence continues to benefit from the rising number of companies that buy in end-to-end communication solutions from third party providers.

Since Deutsche Post World Net became Williams Lea’s majority shareholder the international mail and document services provider has continuously expanded its business. The leading provider of value-added mail and document services has penetrated new markets in the USA and Australia and gained new clients for its Corporate Information Solutions business.

“Williams Lea’s continued strong track record enhances Deutsche Post World Net’s international mail logistics business. This is an excellent base that allows us to leverage the opportunities offered by the ongoing liberalization of international mail markets,” commented Petram, Deutsche Post World Net’s Board Member for international and domestic mail. “It will also help to maintain profitability in the mail division as the expiry of our exclusive license in Germany draws closer.”

In early 2006 Deutsche Post World Net became the majority shareholder in tradition-rich company Williams Lea (established in 1820). Employing a workforce of around 6,500, Williams Lea generated around EUR 650 million in revenues in 2005.

Deutsche Post World Net already occupies an outstanding position in the international mail market. A leading provider of integrated international mail logistics services, the Group offers its customers around the world high-end mail solutions along the entire value chain, from direct marketing consulting, printing, and document management to sorting, franking and international shipping and delivery.

In the cross-border market Deutsche Post World Net maintains direct routes to more than 200 countries. The Group also targets the opportunities offered by the ongoing liberalization of mail markets around the globe. Via its DHL Global Mail brand Deutsche Post World Net is already active in a number of national mail markets including the USA, Japan, the Netherlands, the UK, France, and Spain.
