bpost: last year the number of parcel deliveries to lockers rose by 44%

bpost has installed its 1500th Parcel Locker in Belgium. The company is currently installing up to six new lockers per day, aiming to reach a network of 2500 Parcel Lockers by the end of the year. This expansion is necessary, as both receiving and sending parcels via lockers continues to gain popularity.
The best locations
The popularity of Parcel Lockers depends heavily on their proximity. That’s why bpost has made expanding this network a top priority for the year. By closely collaborating with cities and municipalities to place lockers in public areas, near supermarkets, and at local hotspots, bpost ensures that the lockers are located where they are most convenient for Belgians.
The honor of hosting the country’s 1500th Parcel Locker goes to the Brussels municipality of Schaerbeek. The locker, which became fully operational this week, is located on Avenue Jacques Georgin, in front of the RTL Belgium buildings. It has 120 compartments.
This year, the number of bpost Parcel Lockers will increase from 1260 to 2500—a doubling. As new lockers are larger, the total capacity of all bpost lockers in Belgium will even triple, from space for 50.000 parcels to 150.000.
3600 pick-up points
bpost is also continuing to invest in Post Offices, Post Points (retailers offering postal services), and Parcel Points (retailers where parcels can be collected). Parcels from bpost can be picked up at over 3.600 locations across the country, including over 650 Post Offices, 670 Post Points, 800 Parcel Points and 1500 Parcel Lockers.
