PostNord “proud” to ” enable circular trade”

The most intense shopping period of the year is approaching and PostNord is preparing for a new record year. Black Week kicks off on November 24, with consumer favorite Black Friday on November 28, followed by Cyber Monday and Christmas shopping.

This year’s Christmas trading period is expected to be more intense than ever. PostNord expects a new record year, and the forecast points to a 10 percent increase in parcel handling from last year’s record levels.

As usual, PostNord is making a number of reinforcements ahead of Black Week and Christmas. Among other things, extended opening hours in customer service, Saturday deliveries in large parts of the country, Sunday sorting of parcels, as well as increased capacity at our service points and extra parcel boxes, compared to previous years.

This year, PostNord is also strengthening its parcel box network with 100 temporary parcel boxes in Stockholm, Gothenburg and Malmö, where the pressure is highest.

“In addition to our staffed agents, we have set up more parcel boxes around the country since last year. In total, there are now just over 170,000 compartments available across the country, compared to 125,000 last year,” says Johan Uddin, Head of Production in the Parcels business area.

Last year, records were broken at all terminals. Both in terms of sorted volumes and number of home deliveries. To make it easier for private individuals who want to send Christmas presents, the number of self-service stations is being increased to reduce the queues at the agents.

“This is the most intense, but also the most fun, period of the year. Last year was a record year and everything indicates that even more parcels will pass through our terminals in 2025. The entire organization is prepared to take on the challenge,” says Johan Uddin.

For PostNord’s parcel operations, volumes usually peak on the first weekday after Black Friday.

“Of course, it feels extra good that we can offer Nordic Swan Ecolabelled sustainable transports when deliveries reach record levels. We also see that the second-hand market is steadily growing, and that more people are shopping from private individuals to private individuals online. We offer the infrastructure to enable circular trade, which we are proud of,” says Ylva Staszewski, Head of Business Area Parcels at PostNord.
