Bpost: agreement reached between management and the unions

Bpost’s management and the unions have reached an agreement on the implementation of the transformation plan regarding the organization of parcel and letter delivery.

Following several days of discussions between management and the unions, and in particular the bilateral talks between CEO Chris Peeters and the union representatives, an agreement was reached today, taking into account its impact on employees, operational requirements and the company’s financial situation.

The transformation plan remains in place and will be rolled out gradually. Bpost acknowledges the impact of the measures on the work rhythm and personal lives of mail carriers and their support staff. As agreed on April 3, the past couple of days were devoted to joint work on the terms of the plan’s implementation as well as on compensation arrangements for the employees affected by the plan, despite the company’s financial situation.

The key elements of the agreement:

• The majority of services will end around 5 p.m.
• Guarantee of maintaining titular status
• Guarantee of services spread over 5 days with a fixed schedule
• Creation by the company of an internal pool to minimize reliance on subcontracting
• Agreement on an increase of meal vouchers by €2 within the framework of the collective labour agreement (CLA)

Final negotiations on the full implementation of the plan, further details about the modalities and the associated collective labor agreement are continuing, with the aim of reaching an agreement by April 30, 2026.

The strikes of recent weeks have had a significant impact on the company as a whole, as well as on customers and employees, and have undermined customer confidence. To truly bring this chapter to a close and look ahead, it is essential to create the conditions for a return to stable operations.

Over the next few days, Bpost will focus its efforts on clearing the backlog in the delivery of parcels and letters.
