DHL expands Time Definite Delivery for Import Express to Nagoya area

DHL, the world’s leading express and logistics company, announced today the launch of Import MidDay Express – a service to guarantee delivery of imported documents and parcels by noon – in the Nagoya area. The service provided by DHL Express Japan will be available from 4 January 2007.

In the Nagoya area, year-on-year sales in the January-November 2006 period increased 30% for the Import Express service and 110% for Time Definite Delivery (TDD) services. To meet the rising demand for the two services in Nagoya, Import MidDay Express, which began service in Tokyo and Osaka on 1 June 2006, will be launched in Nagoya with an aim to further expand and diversify the services offered in this region. Demand for Import MidDay Express in the Nagoya area is expected from the high-tech, textile and apparel, and automobile industries.

Import Express, a speedy, all-inclusive door-to-door service for expediting imports to Japan and between third countries, enables customers to send or receive documents and packages of any size, with the convenience of one pre-quoted transportation charge in Japanese yen. Since its introduction in 1995, Import Express has been well-received by customers in Japan due to its speed of importing products and the simplified process of importing goods. The service is available for importing documents and parcels from major business areas in 16 Asia Pacific countries and 22 European countries to 13 wards in Tokyo and all 24 wards in Osaka City, as well as all 16 wards in Nagoya City with the commencement of the new service.

With Import MidDay Express, customers will continue to enjoy the privileges of Import Express, plus the additional benefits of TDD, which guarantees delivery by noon the next day or by noon on the second day.

DHL has established 16 service centers, mainly in the Tokai and Hokuriku regions, since 2005. The inauguration of the Chubu Gateway, DHL’s dedicated bonded warehouse offering customs clearance processing and bonded warehouse facilities, in March 2006 has maximized service efficiency and speed in cargo processing due to the gateway being located next to the airport runway. The Import MidDay Express service adds to these network enhancements of both land and air transport in the Chubu area. DHL will continually strive for improvement of services and further reinforce its position as the market leader in Japan and the Chubu area.
