GCC postal committee to review quality of mail services

A GCC committee assigned with improving postal services will meet here on Tuesday to discuss type of mail services and standards of packages for GCC states.

Director of Qatar’s Postal Service Authority Ali al-Ali said the officials in the six member countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) would review and evaluate outcome of the constant surveillance test process of the postal services in the region during the first quarter of 2007.

He said the two-day meeting is also designed to review experiences of the member countries in postal services and obstacles facing each state.

The meeting is in implementation of a decision taken by directors of postal services in the six member countries during their meeting last November, Ali said.

The decision assigned the UAE postal authority to evluate standards of postal services in the member states, Ali added.
