DHL expands operations in Vermont
DHL, the world’s leading global express delivery and logistics company, today announced the opening of a new facility in White River Junction, Vt., which will significantly expand DHL’s presence in the Upper Valley region. DHL has invested USD640,000 in the new 11,000-sq.-ft facility, which will serve DHL’s local pickup, delivery and sorting operations.
The new facility relocates DHL from a 2,000 sq.-ft facility to one over five times its size to meet DHL’s current and future needs in this market. Strategically located off of a main arterial to provide more convenient customer access, customers will receive earlier package deliveries due to the newly automated package handling systems and a more efficient, expanded dock operation.
“DHL continues to expand and upgrade facilities throughout the country to ensure a superior customer experience,” said John Cameron, Executive Vice President of Operations, for DHL. “DHL’s expansion in Vermont enhances our level of service for customers, and ensures we meet the growing needs of DHL customers shipping to and from the region.”
The pickup and delivery area for the new facility includes areas in and around White River Junction, Vt., as well as areas in New Hampshire including Claremont, Lebanon, and Hanover.
The new facility will handle all types of shipments – including domestic and international parcels and palletized, loose-load and container freight.
Additional key facts about the new facility include:
— The new service center is located at 305 Maple Street in White River Junction, Vt.
— The facility employs 15 operational workers.
— The new facility offers a staffed counter so customers may get the assistance they need for shipment preparation.
— Customers can drop off shipments Monday – Friday between 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM, and Saturday between 9:00 AM and 12:00 PM.
The new Vermont service center investment is one of many initiatives DHL has undertaken to improve U.S. network efficiencies and connectivity system-wide. DHL has enhanced its presence in cities across the country through new facilities in New York City, Chicago, Ill., Charlotte, N.C., Salt Lake City, Utah, Charleston, S.C., and Columbus, Ohio. DHL recently completed a $1.2 billion build out of its US domestic network and infrastructure, including an expanded primary air and ground hub in Wilmington, Ohio, seven new Regional Sort Centers located throughout the country, and the development of new, state-of-the-art distribution facilities for the East and West Coasts in Allentown, Pa., and Riverside, Calif.
