TNT wins UK mail delivery contract with Yell

Britain’s leading internal mailroom expert TNT has won a contract with international directories business Yell to handle internal mail deliveries.

TNT’s mailroom arm won the three-year contract for the daily collection and delivery of all internal mail to almost 50 Yell business locations throughout the UK.

In addition to mail, TNT will also deliver stationery, consumables and even coffee supplies for Yell’s 3,750 UK employees.

Bruce McDonnell, Business Development Manager, TNT Managed Services, said: “People know TNT for our expertise in managing internal mail, but our services can include delivering whatever the customer requires.

“We suggested that there might be some ancillary supplies we could deliver for Yell and supplies for hot drinks was an obvious addition. Our network capabilities in the UK mean that it’s no problem for us to deliver them, along with stationery and Yell’s other key daily supplies

“The business model we presented offers a platform which delivers significant savings through overall delivery efficiencies for Yell. It really is a win-win situation for both companies.”

Simon Taylor, Yell’s Head of Property and Support Services in the UK, said: “Our internal mail service is a vital part of the operational support network for our business. We’re delighted that a company of TNT’s calibre and reputation for service quality will be working with us to provide such an important daily function.”

In addition to collecting the internal mail, TNT will collect external second class mail for Yell from all locations, consolidating it and delivering to sister TNT company – TNT Post – the main rival to the Royal Mail in the UK.

All second class tariff mail will be sorted at a TNT Post facility in Wellingborough and then passed on to Royal Mail for “final mile” delivery. Yell’s first class mail continues to be sent through Royal Mail.

The Yell contract went live at the end of March 2007.
