DHL adopts 7-day rota to reduce delays (Kenya)

DHL Express Kenya has introduced weekend consignment deliveries to minimise delays.

The service will also see the company pick up and deliver shipments during public holidays.

DHL Express country services manager, Rogers Sultani, said the service would cater for customers with urgent shipping needs.

“The service is in tandem with recent growth trends that prompted companies to serve their clients efficiently and on time,” said Mr Sultani.
Introduction of the service is also being seen as responding to the growing sophistication in customer needs.

The service will initially be available in Nairobi and later to be rolled out to other major towns. It will initially attract no additional costs to customers.

Mr Sultani told Business Daily the service is expected to take some pressure off the weekday deliveries. Previously, the international express industry in Kenya has been offering pickup and delivery services from Monday to Friday, with limited deliveries on Saturdays and none on Sundays.

The weekend service is expected to particularly benefit customers in the health, hospitality, architectural and academic sectors.

In addition, against the back drop of the introduction of the 24-hour clearance at the DHL Express Gateway facility at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport a year ago, the Weekend Express Delivery Service is expected to further hasten the transit times for customer shipments.
